Today this simple man`s plan to better eating is bringing a southern classic in the form of Throwback Salisbury Steak with Mushroom & Onion Gravy. Seasoned lean ground beef patties simmered in a rich gravy with mushrooms & onions, this is super satisfying comfort food & on the table in 30 minutes. A great dish to add to your week night rotation. Here`s what you`ll need for your Throwback Salisbury Steak with Mushroom & Onion Gravy:
Lean Ground Beef- 1 lb
Olive Oil-a splash
Onion Powder-1 teaspoon
Garlic Powder-1 teaspoon
White Pepper-1 teaspoon
Worcestershire Sauce-1 tablespoon
Mushrooms- 8oz sliced
Onion-1 medium sliced
Flour-1 heaping tablespoon
Beef Stock-2 cupsIn a mixing bowl add the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt & Worcestershire. Get in there with your hands and mix well. It`s fun to play with your food!!Form into patties.Slice your mushrooms & onions.Heat a splash of olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat & brown the beef patties, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove to a plate & cover.Add the onions to the skillet, stir & cook 3-4 minutes.Add the mushrooms. The butter is optional but I think it adds to the richness of the gravy. Stir & cook another 3–4 minutes or so. Season with a little S & P.Add the flour to the mushrooms & onions, stir and cook for 2-3 minutes. We want to make sure we get the raw flour taste out.Add the beef stock & stir. Make sure you scrape the bottom of the pan for any crusty brown bits. Bring to a simmer.Add the beef patties back in with the gravy & cook another 4-5 minutes.
