The Ultimate Garlic Cheese Bread is what`s cooking & this simple man`s plan to better eating today. Admittedly this doesn’t fall into the healthy category but sometimes you just need to go with it. Buttery, garlicy, cheesey goodness and a great compliment to your favorite soup or pasta dish. I love pairing this with my Best Ever Bolognese or Meatless Monday Spaghetti alla Puttanesca. Super easy to make & you probably already have the ingredients in your fridge & pantry this is so worth it!
Here`s what you`ll need for The Ultimate Garlic Cheese Bread:
Bread- Good quality, I`m using a round French bread but you can make this with any larger loaf.
Butter- 1-2 sticks depending on the size of your bread.
Garlic- 2-5 cloves minced, up to you but I love garlic.
Italian Seasoning Herb Blend-1 Tablespoon
Crushed Red Pepper Flakes- 1/2 Tablespoon
Cheese- 1-2 cups grated, I used a Manchego with Chipotles but Jack, Mozzarella, Cheddar, pretty much any melting cheese will work beautifully.
Green Onions- 1/4 cup thinly sliced.
Forgot the Crushed Red Peppers in the picture but “oh well“.Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Slice your loaf crosswise to the bottom crust but not all the way through.Turn and cut lengthwise, again being careful not to cut through the bottom crust. What you`re looking for are about 1 inch squares.
Grate the cheese & slice the green onion. Melt the butter & to this mix in the Italian seasoning, garlic & crushed red pepper.Spoon the butter mixture into the cuts. I like to go crosswise & lengthwise so no pieces get missed.
Now add the cheese & green onion making sure to get into those cuts. Wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil & put on a baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Remove from the oven & open the foil exposing the top of your loaf. Bake another 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted & you have a nice crisp crust.
Wait for a couple of minutes before serving so no one burns their fingers when pulling off a piece.
Enjoy The Ultimate Garlic Cheese Bread !!
